Phyllis M. Stanley

PORTAGE – Phyllis M. Stanley, age 97, of Portage, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital.

Phyllis was born on July 22, 1928, in Portage, the daughter of Harry and Ruth (Killoran) Fahey. She graduated from Portage High School in the Class of 1946. Phyllis was one of the last two surviving members of the class still in Portage. She was married to Charles Stanley, on February 14, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2008.  Phyllis had owned and operated a dress shop in Portage,  Mode O’Day, with her sister, Ruthann.  She held various jobs after that and never really retired.  Phyllis was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Portage.  She was known as a loyal friend and for the scarves and sweaters she knit. Phyllis enjoyed gambling and had a great sense of humor.  She loved to travel, especially to Florida and Las Vegas. Phyllis loved the Green Bay Packers but also had a love for the Chicago Cubs. She loved to watch her children and grandchildren play sports. Phyllis was an avid bridge player for many years and also enjoyed bingo.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Barb) Stanley; grandchildren, Christopher (Stacey) Stanley, Matthew Stanley, Kyle Stanley, and Kelley (Devin) Bressers; two step-grandchildren, Trina (Brian) Schultz and Nathan Simonson; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruthann (Bill) Helmann; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her son, Daniel; her daughter-in-law, Sandra; her step-great-grandson, Mitchel Simonson; and her siblings, Helen (Lonnie) Schumann, Joe Fahey, Bill (Janet) Fahey, and Tom (Nora) Fahey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding.  Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Portage. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday at the church.
