

Kathleen Elaine Schoeneberg
POYNETTE - Kathleen Elaine Schoeneberg, age 94, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Saturday, May 30th, 2026, at Waunakee Valley Senior Living.
Kathleen was born November 14, 1931, in the township of Poynette, the daughter of Henry and Marie Traut. She graduated from Poynette High School in 1949 and worked in downtown Madison for several years. In 1956, she married Daniel Schoeneberg and together had four children. Kathleen was a seamstress and had a passion for gardening. She was a homemaker and after raising her youngest into his teens, she worked for the Village of Poynette, retiring as the Village Commissioner. Daniel and Kathleen loved traveling the state for pleasure as well as antique hunting. They both enjoyed long drives and many restaurants they so loved. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandsons. She loved to entertain for all holidays and other days in between. Later in life, Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her neighbors for conversation, a snack, and a glass of wine. She loved visiting with anyone who knocked on her door. Kathleen took pride in documenting in her journals from the 1950's - present. As a family, we so cherish the time she took to document so many details about her journey through life.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Schoeneberg, Maureen Franklin, and Patrick (Trisha) Schoeneberg; her loving grandchildren, Quinn (Jessica) Schoeneberg, Nicole and Kaelin Franklin, Kyle, Luke, and Emma Schoeneberg; two great grandsons, Hollis and Lian Schoeneberg. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband Daniel; her son, Tom; her grandson, lan; her sister, Marilyn Crapp; and nine sisters and brothers-in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette, with Fr. Bala Kasipogu presiding. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Poynette. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church, 665 S. Main St. Poynette, WI 53955 or Agrace Hospice.
