John M. Myhre, Jr.
PORTAGE — John M. Myhre, Jr., of Portage, Wisconsin, passed away at his home on Monday, August 10, 2026. He was 63 years old.
John was born on October 30, 1962, in Portage, Wisconsin, the son of John M. Myhre, Sr. and Beverly (Smith) Myhre.
John grew up in the towns of Dalton, Markesan and Cambria and graduated from Cambria High School in 1981. On September 15,1984, he married Lori Ann Hickethier. Together, they built a life in Portage for nearly 42 years, where they raised their two children.
John spent his career as a thermal fabricator with Everbrite in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, before leaving the workforce in 2021.
John had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time with his family while hunting, fishing, and camping. He also had a passion for cooking and grilling and loved sharing good food with those around him. John enjoyed traveling, with some of his most memorable adventures taking him to Yellowstone National Park, as well as on multiple trips to Colorado and Arizona.
One of John’s favorite pastimes was working on his model trains. He also enjoyed coaching his nephews through youth football, creating special memories that will be cherished by his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Myhre, Sr. and Beverly (Smith) Myhre; his in-laws, Elmer and Cecily Hickethier; his sister-in-law, Joyce Maass; and his brother-in-law, Lenard Purves.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; his son, Eric (Gabe) Pollitt of Peoria, Arizona; his daughter, Liz (Will) Kutina of Oxford, Wisconsin; and his grandchildren, Alexia Kutina, Adam Kutina, Asher Kutina and Lukas Pollitt. He is also survived by his brother, Tim (Gay) Myhre of Dalton, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Rick Maass; sisters-in-law, Donna Purves, Jean (Randy) Hinze, Rita (Scott) Maass and June (Allen) Fredrick; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 215 W. Collins St., Portage, Wisconsin. Please wear a Hawaiian shirt or either a Milwaukee Brewers or Green Bay Packers shirt/jersey in his honor.
The family requests no fresh flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
