Donovan G. “Donny” Stronach
Rio ‒ Donovan G. “Donny” Stronach, age 69, passed away on Thursday February 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with complications following a bone marrow transplant.
Donny was born on May 16, 1955, in Madison, the son of James "Jim" and Bernadette "Bernie" (Buechner) Stronach. He grew up in Windsor and graduated from DeForest High School in 1973. Other than working for Chase Lumber for 2 years, he spent the next 41 years working for EVCO Plastics (AMP Plant) in DeForest, retiring in 2017 as the plant manager.
Donny married the love of his life, Jean Ann (Ripp) on May 12, 1979. Together they raised their two sons, Travis and Brandon. Both Donny and Jean Ann wanted to live in the country, so after their sons graduated from High School, he started looking for hunting land. In 2004, Donny found his dream land and he and Jean Ann built their dream house. Family was the most important thing in his life. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and was very involved in their lives. He loved teasing his granddaughters, but they also loved teasing him back, which he so enjoyed! He and Jean Ann spent a lot of time together golfing, traveling, going for drives and just sitting on their screen porch having their own happy hour. Donny loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and archer. He was a lifetime member of the Poynette Bowhunter Club. He also enjoyed ice fishing, golfing, gardening, wood working (making a lot of beautiful things for his wife and kids), playing euchre and cribbage and watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.
Donny is survived by his wife Jean Ann; sons, Travis (Florence) and Brandon (Maribel); granddaughter, Tilly; step granddaughter, Lianna; and step grandson, Alex; a sister, Rose (John) Fitzgerald; brothers, Dale (Mary Lou), Arne (Bonnie), Leo (Becky); many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Donny was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bernadette; brother, Larry; sister, Nancy; brothers-in-law; Jim Munz and Ron Ripp; and niece, Kimberly Stronach.
A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Whispering Pines, 101 Bethel Dr, Poynette, WI 53955.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward Don’s family, who will disperse the funds to his favorite charities.
