Sharon Lorena England Stapelmann

EDGERTON – Sharon Lorena England Stapelmann, age 84, of Edgerton, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sharon was born on February 2, 1941, in Wisconsin, the daughter of Martell and Lynnette (Helgeson) England. She married Duane Stapelmann on June 18, 1960, in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, and then moved to Poynette, Wisconsin, to raise their 6 children. Sharon was a homemaker until her youngest child graduated and then she worked as a chocolatier at the Scotts Candy Plant of The Wisconsin Cheeseman until her retirement. Sharon enjoyed needlepointing, quilting, baking, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Monica) Stapelmann, Sheila (Michael) Kelly, Mark (Carolyn) Stapelmann, Brett (Melanie) Stapelmann, Steve Stapelmann and Tina (Thomas) Kurt; her grandchildren, Shana (Justin Bloom) Stapelmann, Zach Stapelmann, Breanne (Brent) Schmitt, Michael (Kaisa Sommer) Kelly II, Blake Stapelmann, Becky Stapelmann, Bradley (Sarah) Sheffer, Makayla Stapelmann, Jess Madden, Caitlyn Kurt and Colton Kurt; her great-grandchildren, Isobel Kunshek, Isaak Kunshek, Izaiah Bloom, and Oliver Schmitt; her sister, Carol Hartshorne; her sisters-in-law, Janet Hayes and Julie Von Eshen; her brothers-in-law, Jeff Stapelmann and John Holmburg; many cherished nieces, nephews and  friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane; her brothers, Merlyn England, Wayne England, and Dallas England;  her sisters,  Euneva Ringstad and Marlys England; her daughter-in-law, Amber Stapelmann; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Stapelmann; her brothers-in-law, Doug Hartshorne, Robert (Lee) Finberg, Gordon Stapelmann, Doug Goble, and Dave Hayes; her sisters-in-law, Maureen England, Mary Ann England, Judy Holmburg, and Nancy Goble. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with Rev. Jeff Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at the Eagle’s Club in Madison, Wisconsin at a future date to be announced.
