Maryann P. Shipman
POYNETTE – Maryann P. Shipman, age 82, of Poynette, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at U. W. Hospital in Madison.
Maryann was born on July 20, 1942, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Frederick Eugene and Beatrice Leona (Blazek) Burditt. She was baptized, according to the rite of the Roman Catholic Church, on August 20th, 1942. MaryAnn worked as an executive secretary in Wisconsin, while raising two children and in Florida until her semi-retirement in 2001. She continued to work, managing Poynette Mobile Home Estates until 2021 and as a crossing guard for the Poynette School District. She found great joy being a crossing guard and interacting with the children.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Jessie) Trombley and Jay (Stacy) Shipman; her grandchildren, Ryan J. (Yuko) Shipman, Ashley Lynn (Joey) Foster, Anthony (Julie) Walker, Jesse (Taylor) Walker and Jeffrey Tomczak; her great-grandchildren, Cassidy, A.J., D.J., Riley, Calli, Callysta, Caleb, Hudson, Colt, Hana and Joey; her sister-in-law, Nancy (Lenard) Burditt: other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Greg and Leonard Burditt.
Private graveside services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Princeton. An open celebration of life will take place on January 25th at the Poynette American Legion from 1pm to 5 pm.
