George C. “Malibu” Melby
PARDEEVILLE – George C. “Malibu” Melby, age 69, of Pardeeville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 3, 2025, at his home.
George was born on October 18, 1955, in Clatsop County, Oregon, the son of Curtis and L’Raen (Brewer) Melby. He married Gloria J. (Kluge) Eastman on October 16, 1982, in Portage, Wisconsin. George owned and operated Malibu’s Barber shop in Rio, Wisconsin for many years. He also worked with Pete Ohnesorge at his shop in Poynette. George was an avid curler, in Poynette, and loved playing horseshoes in the area. He also looked forward to his yearly trip north to hunt with his friends and family.
George is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughter, Pamela (Thomas) Klappstein; granddaughter, Jessica (Nick) Leahy; great grandchildren, Winston and Sophia Leahy; brothers-in-law, Terry (Margo) Kluge and Richard (Sandra) Kluge; sister-in-law, Sue (Randy) Rogers; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and L’Raen Melby; father-in-law, Henry F. Kluge; mother-in-law, Judith (Jim) Girling; and his “springers,” Turk, Ginger, and Daisy.
A memorial service will be held at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home, Portage, Wisconsin, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 12:00 noon. Inurnment will be private at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
