Steven Arthur Corbett

PORTAGE – Dr. Steven Arthur Corbett, age 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 22, 2025, at the Home Again Memory Care Facility in Waunakee, Wisconsin, surrounded by his loving family.

Steve was born the son of Arthur and Frances (Rosenthal) Corbett on June 26, 1948, in Rockford, Il. Steve married Rita Heinemeyer on April 7, 1973, in Rockford, Il. After graduating high school in 1966, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a business degree.

From there, Steve served in the United States Navy from August 1971 to November 1972. He received an early discharge to attend Dallas Theological Seminary where he received both master’s and doctorate degrees. Steve helped establish Grace Bible Church of Portage, WI in 1977 where he pastored for 39 years. In 1985, he had the honor of being the chapel speaker for the Chicago Bears when they played the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. In May of 2023, he had the honor of going on the Badger Honor Flight, accompanied by his daughter, Cari.

His love for fishing began at the age of two at Balsam Lake, WI. He also enjoyed golf and attending his children’s extracurricular activities. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also helped run the Boys and Girls Club basketball program. 

Steve is survived by his wife, Rita, of 51 years; children, Eric (Michelle) Corbett, Cari (Dwaine) Dailey, Kati (Anson) Whitledge; grandchildren, Grant and Mairyn Dailey, Nash and Veda Whitledge. He was preceded in death by his parents.  

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3rd at Grace Bible Church, 2939 County Road CX, Portage, WI, 53901, with Rev. Jeremy Edmondson officiating.  Visitation will be on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Military Honors will be provided by the Portage Area Veterans Honor Guard at 1:00 p.m. before the start of the service. A meal will be served immediately following the service.
