Loretta L. Stine
POYNETTE – Loretta L. Stine, 90, of Poynette, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024, at Dove Healthcare in Lodi, Wisconsin.
Loretta Lucille Ladenthin was born July 12th, 1934, at home in Ojibwa, Wisconsin. She was the 6th of 15 children born to Harry Ladenthin and Katherine (Scholtes) Ladenthin. She grew up near the town of Ojibwa and attended school in Winter, Wisconsin.
In 1950, she married the love of her life Richard "Duane" Stine. Loretta and Duane moved to his family farm in Ladysmith, Wisconsin where they had 7 children. In 1965 they relocated their family to the Poynette/Arlington area. Loretta and Duane were very active in the community, and they were pillars of the Arlington Methodist Church. Loretta worked at the Del Monte Canning Factory in Arlington and at Sophie's Restaurant in Poynette. Her true calling, though, was in taking care of others. This is how she found herself attending classes at Poynette High School at the same time as some of her own children. She needed to finish her High School diploma before she could earn her nursing degree and she was determined to make it happen. Loretta was then able to work at the Portage Hospital taking care of newborns. She also worked as a Home-Visiting Nurse for the County and as a private caretaker where she provided excellent, compassionate in-home care for numerous area residents. Loretta touched many lives on this earth, and she will be dearly missed. She will be remembered for her impressive sewing skills, her down-home cooking abilities, her beautiful smile, and most of all the love and devotion she had for her family.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Katherine Ladenthin; brothers, Harry, Robert, and Richard Ladenthin; sisters Katherine "Kate" Chernikovich, and Harriet Mendelson; and her husband Richard Duane Stine, who has been patiently waiting to receive her, with Our Lord.
She is survived by siblings Betty Prytz of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Don (Connie) Ladenthin of Winter, Wisconsin, Tom (Liz) Ladenthin of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Pearl (Ron) Pinkowski of Carpentersville, Illinois, Otto "Butch" (Diane) Ladenthin of Winter, Wisconsin, James Ladenthin of Winter, Wisconsin, Nickolas (Donna) Ladenthin of Punta Gorda, Florida, Deborah (Bob) Arntz of Winter, Wisconsin, and Jimmy Dean Ladenthin of Birnamwood, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her children, Sally (Doug) Denny of Tigard, Oregon, Steve (Vickie) Stine of Poynette, Wisconsin, Margie (Jason Chader) Meinzer of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Ruth (Ron) Palmiter of Eddyville, Kentucky, Cindy (Gary) Tomlinson of Golden, Colorado, Richard (Donna) Stine of Poynette, Wisconsin, and Terri (Glen) Jahn of Pardeeville, Wisconsin.
