Yvonne I. Marshall

PORTAGE -- Yvonne I. Marshall, age 67, of Portage, returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Yvonne was born on June 13, 1957, in Columbus, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lewis and Jeanette (Wruck) Kiefer. She was married to Steven Marshall on January 31, 1976, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage. Yvonne graduated from Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, and was ordained at the Dekorra Lutheran Church in Dekorra Township, Wisconsin, in 2001. She served Adams/Argyle Church in Argyle, Wisconsin, Christ/Trinity Church in Sedalia, Missouri, Our Savior in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Our Saviour and Grace of Pleasantville in Whitehall, Wisconsin, and Good Shephard in Viroqua, Wisconsin.  Yvonne retired from Bonnett Prairie Lutheran Church in Rio, Wisconsin on January 1, 2024. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells.

Yvonne had a deep love of learning. It began at an early age by listening to family stories. She continued that love into adulthood through researching her family tree. She loved sharing this knowledge with others. In doing this she also continued to grow and learn in her faith. As a second career pastor, she became a mentor and steward of faith to all.

Yvonne is survived by her mother, Jeanette Elliott; her husband, Steve; their daughter, Melissa; her brothers, Wayne (Trina) Kiefer and Steve (Lisa) Kiefer; nephew, Zach Kiefer; niece, Sarah (T.J. Lippert); other family, friends, and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Kiefer; stepfather, Eliot Elliott; her goddaughter and niece, Ashley Kiefer; and other family and friends.

A Celebration of Yvonne’s Life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Bethany Lutheran Church,
in Wisconsin Dells, with Rev. Joseph Doegen officiating. Private burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 620 Broadway, Wisconsin Dells, WI, 53965, or a charity of your choice.
