Marilyn Louis Crapp

POYNETTE -- Marilyn Louis Crapp passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on December 16, 1938, in Poynette, the daughter of Henry and Marie Traut.

Marilyn grew up on a farm just outside of Poynette, where she was much more interested in riding her horse instead of being inside sewing with her sister, Kathleen. After she graduated from Poynette High School in 1956, she attended the St. Mary’s School of Nursing. Several of her fellow St. Mary graduates became lifelong, dear friends. Marilyn took a break from nursing to become the owner of the Four Seasons Resort on Lake Wisconsin with her husband, Dave. Not too long later, the grandkids started coming. You could usually find a handful of them at her house, spending the night on any given weekend, eating sherbert ice cream for breakfast, and running wild, as grandkids should. She knew when this day came, we would never be writing about her baking or mending skills, and she was perfectly fine with that. Rather, she was an avid reader, she loved flowers, gardening, and fighting with the squirrels, to keep them out of her bird feeders. Marilyn enjoyed coffee clutches with her beloved sister, monthly lunches with the work ladies, and family get togethers - especially Christmas, summer afternoons at Mike’s on the Lake, and any occasion to go visit Pudge at AI. She was 90 lbs. soaking wet, but don’t let that fool you, she was armed with a look that could shush even the loudest of her Blanchard’s from across the room. Marilyn was loving and kind, a good Catholic (most of the time), and the grandma everyone should have. She will be missed beyond measure and always remembered lovingly with a smile.

Survivors include her sister, Kathleen Schoeneberg; son, Mike Blanchard (Darcy Brown); daughters, Terri (Tom) Hotmar, Pam Blanchard (Dan Bavinck), Cathy (Brian) Nelson, Rosana (Shaun) Sigurslid; stepdaughter, Diana (Randy Peterson); grandchildren, Justin, Amanda, Samantha, Kelly Jo, Steven, Lucas, Nick, Kamron, Megan, Mkyl, and Adam; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Further survived by her “other” kids, Julie & Jeff Hellenbrand, the Kings and the Moens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; her daughter, Mary; her grandson, Mitchel; her brother-in-law, Danny.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 651 South Main Street, Poynette. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A celebration following the service at the Arlington Inn.

Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
