Marion Lee Chenoweth

PORTAGE – Marion Lee Chenoweth, age 94, of Fort Winnebago Township, passed away peacefully on  Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital.

Lee was born on August 20, 1930, in Fithian, Illinois, the son of Russell and Nora (Williams) Chenoweth. He married Barbara Ann Kiefer. Lee served his country with the U.S. Army, from April 1950 to April 1953.  He had been a bus driver for 28 years for the City of Madison.  Lee was a member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion, TRIAD Group, the Jim Beam Bottle Collecting Group and the Caregivers Group in Portage.  He was a volunteer policeman for 14 years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara;  eight children, David (Ruth) Chenoweth, Gerald (Joann) Chenoweth, Karen Coffman, Daniel Chenoweth, Steven (Michelle Benard) Chenoweth, Becky (Michael) Hoth, Gary (Becky) Chenoweth and Jessica (Damian) Mimetz;  his sister, Pauline Boileau;  his sister-in-law, Judy (Steve) Luke; his brothers-in-law, Francis Kiefer, Dick (Mary) Kiefer and John (Karen) Keifer; many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Jamie  Chenoweth and Andrew Chenoweth, his brother, Virgil “Dale” Chenoweth, his sister, Marcella Herfel and her husband, Richard, and his brother-in-law, Bob Boileau.  

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jaime Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by Portage Area Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
