William M. Beahm
PORTAGE – William M. Beahm, age 71, of Portage, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024. He was born on May 1, 1953, in Portage, to Winston and Helen Beahm. On September 22, 1984, William married Cindy Dorshorst, with whom he shared a loving life together.
William served in the U.S. Army with a rank of Specialist (E-4), and was stationed in Germany from 1970 – 1972 during the Vietnam War. Throughout his career, William worked for several local businesses, including Portage Hosiery, Trecek Automotive for 15 years, Flexible Foam, and Everbrite. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
William was an avid sports fan, enjoying watching the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He also loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting with his brother and uncles. A true lover of nature, William found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was relaxing with friends or enjoying the changing seasons.
He had a passion for cooking and was known for his culinary skills, often preparing meals for family and friends. Autumn held a special place in his heart, and his favorite holidays included Thanksgiving and Halloween, when he could gather with loved ones and celebrate.
William had a deep affection for animals, and his loyal dogs, Sport and Sam, as well as his cats, Oreo and Boots, brought him great joy and companionship throughout the years.
William's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. His warmth, generosity, and love for life will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to call him a part of their lives.
He is survived by his wife Cindy; son, Ben; sisters, Sally VanWormer, of Portage, Shirley (Gerald) Martin, of Pardeeville; brother, Winston (Sue) Beahm, of Portage; sister-in-law, Judy Collins, of Portage; other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Helen; brothers, George and Harold Collins; brother-in-law, James VanWormer; nephews, Jeremy Beahm and Jay VanWormer.
Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home, in Portage, with Chaplain Tom Drury officiating. Inurnment will be later in the spring. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Divine Savior for their care and support.
