Nancy Jo Allen

PORTAGE – Nancy Jo Allen, aged 74, passed away on October 18, 2024, at home in Portage, WI. Surrounded by family. Nancy was Born on December 25, 1949, to Ray and Florence Bentley, of Shelbyville, Missouri.

Nancy graduated from North Shelby County High School, in Shelbyville, Missouri. She embarked on a fulfilling career, initially working at American Safety, of Palmyra, Missouri, and Diemakers Inc., in Monroe City, Missouri, before relocating to Wisconsin in 1994. There, she joined Rayovac, of Portage, Wisconsin, where she dedicated 19 years before retiring.

Throughout her life, Nancy pursued her passions with vigor. She was an avid arts and crafts enthusiast and had a unique desire to collect peacocks. Her love for nature was profound, often enjoyed long rides in the country to appreciate the fresh air and scenic beauty. Nancy was also known for her infectious smile, her knack for good conversation, and her ability to light up any room with her humor. She cherished the annual getaways with her sisters, as well as quality time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Nancy leaves behind a loving family: her husband, Terry of Portage, Wisconsin; her son, Darrel Gamble, and daughter, Dana (Gamble) Cole, both of Monroe City, MO; sisters, Flora (George) Wiggett, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Helen (Ben) Hoff of Annapolis, Maryland, Martha (Cliff) McClure, of Shelbyville, Missouri, and Perlie (DeVerne) Bagstad, of West Salem, Wisconsin; sister-in law, Donna (Leonard) Bently, of Lorimar, Iowa. Her legacy also continues through her adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

Details regarding the Celebrations of Life to honor Nancy's life will be announced at a later date.

In place of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association, in memory of Nancy.

Her memory and spirit will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her.
