William D. Zamzow

PORTAGE – William D. Zamzow, age 85, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Rainbow Hospice Care in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin.

Bill was born on October 14, 1938, in Wisconsin, the son of George and Lois (Perman) Zamzow. He lived his life in Caledonia Township and spent his retirement in Princeton.  Bill was married to Rita Rietmann on April 20, 1957.  She preceded him in death on April 18, 2014.  Bill was a union carpenter his entire career, holding several leadership positions.  Bill was a member of various local historical societies, a continuation of his life-long passion of collecting artifacts and his interest in history.

Bill is survived by his children, James (Debbie) Zamzow, Peter Zamzow, Penny (John) Whyte, Jeanne Zamzow (Alexis), and Joel (Grace Real) Zamzow; eight grandchildren, Ben Whyte, Joshua Zamzow, Derrick Zamzow, Becca Whyte, Jason Zamzow, Kendra Whyte, Ellie Hanlon, and Maddie Zamzow; two great-grandchildren, Reagan Zamzow and Ada Zamzow; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita, and siblings.

A visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with a short graveside service following at Shanks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shanks Cemetery.
