Terry Lee Swan

PORTAGE - Terry Lee Swan, 65, of Portage, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, surrounded by loving family. Terry was born July 31, 1958, in Portage, WI, the son of Harold Swan and Dawn (Twitchell) Swan.

Terry attended Portage Schools and graduated in 1976. In his younger years he had a passion for cars, especially his Cutlass, Cameros, and Corvettes.  He also developed a love for travel. Some highlights being, the Calgary Olympic Games, the 2003 and 2005 Masters, Badger Football bowl games, Europe, and many trips to Mexico.

Terry was a loving father to his sons Lee and Alec, whom he shared with Maggie Swan. Becoming a dad, he found himself traveling often as a family and attending his sons’ sporting events. He was so very proud of both sons’ accomplishments and recently meeting his new grandson, Cooper. Terry loved golfing with his friends on the weekend and being on the boat by noon with the family.

As a businessman, Terry had an accomplished career. He was VP and part owner, with his sister Sherri, of Dawn’s Foods Inc., founded by their parents. Terry and Maggie could always be counted on to bring the potato salad! He was very active in the community throughout his life, serving as a City Alderman, an Elk’s member, on board of director’s positions, and working on campaigns for Governor Tommy Thompson and Sheriff Dennis Richards. 

Terry is survived by his sons, Lee (Emily Ware) Swan, and Alec Swan; grandchildren, Zane Landers and Cooper Swan; sister, Sherri (Jim) Blount; former wife and loving friend, Maggie Swan; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dawn Swan, and by his brother, Larry Swan.

Terry will be remembered as a loving, kind, and generous person to all that knew him. His family and friends were the joy of his life, and he will be greatly missed.

A memorial visitation will be held at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home, in Portage, Wisconsin, on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
