Donna J. Schwoch

POYNETTE -- On Monday, March 18, 2024, the Lord took Donna J. Schwoch to her heavenly home after losing a two-year battle against cancer.  Donna was born on March 20, 1948, to parents, Adolph and Ruth (Peterson) Priem.  She graduated from Poynette High School in 1966.  Donna married the love of her life, Charlie Schwoch, on July 29, 1967.  They lived in Cambria for 9 years and then moved to their new home in rural Poynette.

Donna worked in the office at Gisholt Machine Co. for five years, Firstar Bank (US Bank) as a manager for 28 years, and Baker Tilly as an Office Assistant for 13 years until retirement.  She then took a seasonal position with Kohl’s for six years.  When Charlie started late model stock car racing, she was the pit crew.  Their love of racing took them to NASCAR races in Florida, Michigan and Illinois.  After retiring from racing, they took their collector cars to car shows and enjoyed flea markets, garage sales and craft shows with her sister, Mary.  She loved to garden and canned and froze many fruits and vegetables.  Flower gardening was also a passion with gladiolus her favorite.  She also liked to bake, especially pie.  At Dekorra Lutheran she was part of the quilting and lefse making groups.  She also served on the Memorial Committee.

Donna is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Charlie; sister, Mary Hanko (friend, Charlie Fagan); sister-in-law, Charlene VanderGalien; nephews, Chuck, Stuart (Lisa Jurgerson), and Gary (Kris Polster) VarderGalien; aunt, Phyllis Priem; as well as many cousins, friends, and neighbors.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Ruth (Peterson) Priem; grandparents, Herman and Elsie (Paskey) Priem, Perry and Bertha (Gabbei) Peterson; brother-in-law, Stuart VanderGalien; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and beloved dog, Hank.

Thank you to Promedica Hospice and UW Carbone for their excellent care.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Dekorra Lutheran Church with Chaplain Dan Pulsfus officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the church and Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.   Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Poynette after the service.
