Robert W. Miller

PORTAGE – Robert W. Miller, age 90, of Portage, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Lodi, with family at his side.

Robert was born on September 11, 1933, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Charles and Adeline (Roghan) Miller. He married Charlotte J. Dillon on June 28, 1952.  She preceded him in death on November 2, 2022.  Robert worked primarily as a self-employed contractor.  He was a Butler Manufacturing building contractor with his own business, SYMCO, and held other positions in Indiana and Wisconsin. In retirement he held numerous positions including “Bus driver Bob”.  Bob enjoyed fishing, grilling, working on his family genealogy, Badger Midget auto racing and watching Badger and Packer football games. 

He is survived by six children, Toni (Jack Schneider) Wendt, Cedar Rapids, IA;  Cathy (Bob) Schoeneberg, Arlington, WI; Dan Miller, Poynette, WI; Meg (Wayne) Hanson, Poynette, WI; Beth (LeRoy) Riedel, Pardeeville, WI;  Gus Miller, Avilla, IN; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Miller, Oconomowoc, WI; three generations of 46 grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Terry (Marie) Dillon; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Schiek and Ginger (Bob) Biebel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sons Robert and Walter and son David; brother Jerry, sisters Marilyn and Judi, his brothers-in-law, Richard Dillon, Gordy Dillon, and Robert Schiek; son-in-law, Jim Wendt; and his daughter-in-law, Marianne Miller.

A memorial service will be held at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, WI from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Private family graveside services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Eden, Wisconsin.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage House Assisted Living; Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Lodi, and Agrace Hospice for their care and support.
