Walter Kosterman
MONTELLO - Walter Kosterman, age 70, of Montello, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on April 29, 1953, in Racine, Wi., the son of George Kosterman and Jean (Larson) Frahm.
Walter attended J.I. Case High School, Racine. On July 22, 1972, he married Frieda Rothenbuhler in Minong, Wisconsin. Walter and Frieda raised their family mainly in the Spooner/Minong area. Prior to retirement, Walter worked in the metal industry as a lineworker.
Walter enjoyed gardening, especially mowing the lawn, as he was very picky about how it was mowed. For fun he liked bowling, playing darts and pool, going to garage sales, and spending time with family. He was just learning how to play the harmonica, and was very artistic, especially loving to draw. He also liked cooking and took pride in his chili. Walter had a soft spot in his heart for his dogs, Charlie and Shadow.
Walter is survived by wife Frieda; daughter, Janie (Jon Harmon) Kosterman; sons, Jacob Kosterman, John (Sara) Kosterman, and Jeremy (Roslynde) Kosterman; grandchildren: Christian Kosterman; Alison Kosterman, and her children, Elijah, Adeline and Samuel; Aiden Kosterman; Alissa (Dawson Petit) Mack; Ashton (Jazmine Daniels) Mack, and their daughter, Gracelyn; Sydney Kosterman; Jordon Kosterman; Austin Mack; Dawson Kosterman; Elexys Kosterman; Cailyn Kosterman; Jaxson Kosterman; Justin Kosterman; brothers and sister, Michael (Jean) Kosterman, William "Billy" (Travis ) Kosterman, Patrick (Wendy) Kosterman, Daniel (Vicki) Kosterman, Mary (Ted) Whalen, and Paul (Mary Jo) Kosterman; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Reed; brother, Pete Kosterman; and infant brother, Jamie Kosterman.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Special thanks to the staff of Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage and medical ICU at St. Mary's Hospital for all of their wonderful care and support given to Walter and his family.
