Tammy R. Beckett

PORTAGE – Tammy R. Beckett, age 65, of Portage, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at St. Mary Hospital in Madison surrounded by her family and close friends.

As her family and close friends, we have to give huge thanks to Dr. Robert Hoffman (Hospitalist), Dr. Lisa Lepeak (Oncology), and all parts of their teams for making this as comfortable as possible for Tammy. Also, for being a huge support to her daughter, family and friends.

Tammy was born August 12, 1958, to Lloyd and Thelma (Swenson) Beckett. Tammy graduated from Portage High School in 1976, worked at Wilz Drug in Portage before pursuing her education at MATC earning an associate degree in human services.  Her career began in 1989 where she eventually became the Production Manager at Northwoods Inc. of WI. After 31 dedicated years with Northwoods she retired with many cherished memories and great friendships. Her love and compassion for others was further shared by her volunteering with the food pantry for many years.

When Tammy wasn’t helping others, you’d find her at the kitchen table watching the birds and squirrels. One of her favorite past times was planting flowers and growing veggies. You could always expect to hear Tammy cheering on the Green Bay Packers, waiting for a call from her bother Dick every time they scored a touchdown. An avid fan was a title she wore proudly. When the opportunity came about to meet Brett Favre and get an autographed picture with him, she acted like she was 16 yrs old again! It was an experience she never forgot (or let others forget either.)  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially traveling up north with her brothers and sisters-in-law, which all the adventures they had together, turned her into an avid fisherman.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Paige Beckett, and grandson, Joel, who she adored and cherished. Her siblings, Brent (Cathy) Beckett, Dick (Carol) Beckett, all of Portage, and Judy Beckett, of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews who loved their aunt Tammy dearly. Her lifelong friends that she cherished, Janice and Doug, Maureen, Vicky, Mary Jean, Nina, and Korri.

Tammy was like a mother to many.  Her daughter’s best friends had a lifelong mother/daughter bond with her that they will always carry with them, Kim Richards, Cherrie (Dillon) Westfield, Krista Moore, and Ashlee (Jim) Little.

She was a god mother to her twin nephews, Tony and Tyler Beckett. She took pride in being, not just their aunt but their Godmother. They made her so proud! Everyone loved and adored their aunt Tammy and couldn't wait to get a famous aunt Tammy hug any chance they could.

Meeting her at heaven’s gate are her parents, Thelma and Lloyd Beckett, her brothers, Ernie Beckett, of Portage, and Neil Beckett, of Ohio. Her sisters, Lana Bender, of Portage, and Carolanne Thyen, of Ohio.  Her nephew, Bradley Bender, and her dear friend, Janet Richards. Awaiting anxiously is her lifelong companion, Mila.
