Kay A. Martin

PORTAGE – Kay A. Martin, age 84, of Portage, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Azura Memory Care in Stoughton.

Kay was born on August 30, 1939, in Portage, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Morse) Roeker.  A loving mother and doting grandmother, she liked to play cards and Yahtzee, watch tennis, cheer on the Brewers and spend time with family and friends.  Kay was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she volunteered on the Funeral Luncheon Committee and always brought her famous Kit Kat bars.  Kay also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a lifelong member of the Portage Boat Club.   

She is survived by her children, Gail (John) Heibl, Susan Johnson, Brad (Michelle) Martin, Kari Grasee and Dana (Craig) Schmidt; grandchildren, Michael and Aaron Johnson, Ted (Patrick) Jun, Julia Martin, Anna, Zachary, Maya and Elena Grasee, Taylor and Kyle Schmidt; great-granddaughter, Addison, who shares the same birthday with Kay; her brother, Donald (Candace) Roeker; other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William “Bill” and a son-in-law, Michael Grasee.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday November 3, 2023, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church and precede the mass from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
