Larry Marvin Krueger

MOUNDVILLE TOWNSHIP – Larry Marvin Krueger passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023, with his family at his side. His strong faith in God helped him prepare for this final journey. He was born on November 25, 1953, to Marvin and Florence Krueger, Portage, Wisconsin. Larry had reached his 70th birthday, a goal that was very important to him. Larry married Linda Dewsnap on December 29, 1973, and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this December.

Larry was a skilled mechanic, some learned from his father, much seeming instinctive, and some learned as he went. His leadership skills, along with his attention to detail and methodical ways of approaching challenges were evident in his work. From rebuilding a tractor with his dad as a young boy to helping neighbors with their cars and boat motors, Larry was always willing to share his knowledge and help others. He was very proud of his time spent designing and working on remodeling projects including houses and the front altar of the Moundville United Methodist Church. He kept his vehicles and lawn in pristine condition! He instilled in his children that attention to detail and a strong work ethic. So many great memories were made with family and friends at family gatherings, hunting, camping, boating, motorcycling, snowmobiling, and traveling. Larry had a love of nature and when his health limited him to taking drives, he would have his bird book and binoculars on the seat beside him and search for raptors. He was the definition of a “family man” being truly devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. He delighted in all their activities, even when poor health wouldn’t allow him to be physically present, enjoying their videos, pictures, and stories.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Betsy (Andrew) Bretsch; son, Theodore (Courtney); grandchildren, Zachary (Kenzie), Taylor, Natlie, and Ava Bretsch, and Grace Krueger; great-granddaughter, Sadie Lynne Bretsch; sister, Penny (Chuck) Judd; brothers-in-law, Jim Alf, Calvin (Paula) Dewsnap, Douglas (Lucy) Dewsnap, David Dewsnap, Dennis (Sue) Dewsnap; sister-in-law, Dawn (Roger) Lochner; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and three aunts. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Sheldon and Carol Dewsnap; sister, Peggy Alf; brother-in-law, Stewart Dewsnap; niece, Holli Judd.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at the Moundville United Methodist Church on December 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the church from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. A lunch and time for fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moundville United Methodist Church.

A special thank you to SSM Hospice for their care and compassion, and to Pastor Jim Cotter for the time he spent with Larry.

“We see a hearse; we think sorrow. We see a grave; we think despair. We hear of a death; we think of a loss. Not so in heaven. When heaven sees a breathless body, it sees the vacated cocoon and the liberated butterfly.” Max Lucado
