Margaret Mary Hilgendorf

PORTAGE – Margaret Mary Hilgendorf, age 79, of Portage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret was born on August 9, 1944, in Portage, the daughter of Herbert Sr. and Helen (Crawford) Hilgendorf. Margaret was a member of the St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage. She worked as a housekeeper at Divine Savior Nursing Home for 25 years.

She is survived by her siblings, Herbert Jr. Hilgendorf, Dorothy Hansen, William Hilgendorf, Paul (Dorothy) Hilgendorf; and sister-in-law, Deloris Hilgendorf. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Hilgendorf and Marie Mullenbach; brother, Tom Hilgendorf; brother-in-law, John Mullenbach; sisters-in-law, Donna Hilgendorf and Kathy Hilgendorf.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Catholic Church in Portage.

The family would like to thank the Aspirus Ambulance Service, and the Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital Staff for their outstanding care and support. A special thank you to the ADRC (Meals on Wheels) staff that Margaret considered as her special friends.

Margaret and her family are deeply grateful for the staff of BrightStar (Baraboo) for the last 6 months of amazing care and friendship they gave to her.  Also, thank you to the Portage SSM Dean HealthCare for their compassion, dedication, and expertise over the many years for Margaret.
