Chuck Gabbei

Chuck Gabbei, 85, of Sun City, AZ, passed away on July 21st, 2023 in Phoenix AZ. He was born January 30th, 1938 in Dekorra Township, Wisconsin to Herbert and Marie (Blackely) Gabbei.
Surviving are his sister Ann Lanzendorf of Madison, WI, his wife of thirty two years Carole, three children, Ritchie (Laura) Gabbei of Macomb, IL, Jeffery Gabbei of Poynette, WI, and Riva (Aaron) England of Stephenville, TX; two step children, Derek (Tracy) Gerevics and Brandon (Venus) Gerevics; nine grandchildren McKenna and Ian Gabbei, Jeffery John (Mariya) Gabbei, Troy, Heather, and Holly England, Dayton Gerevics, Jamie Carnnahan, and Mary (Nick) Bramely; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Miriam "Babe" Herschleb.
Chuck graduated from Poynette High School in 1957, being elected Prince Charming by his classmates. After high school he served in the Army Reserve as part of the 86th "Blackhawk Division." He was called up for the Cuban Missile Crisis. Chuck worked the family farm and drove milk truck for the Portage Creamery until 1967. From there he began a career driving semi for over forty years, including training future drivers and participating in research projects. Chuck was immensely skilled at handling any kind of work vehicle. He moved to Arizona in 1980, where he picked up his nickname of "Gabby," eventually settling down in the western suburbs of Phoenix in 1990. Gabby enjoyed wood working and made many beautiful projects. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church of Poynette, WI and attended services regularly.
Funeral Rites are provided by Best Funeral Services. Memorial Service will be held July 29th, 2023. Graveside and burial service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, North Leeds, WI at a later date.
