Vincent John Leonforte
PORTAGE -- Vincent John Leonforte, age 71, of Portage, WI, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital.
Vincent was born on June 4, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of John Leonforte and Gertrude (Santangelo) Leonforte. He was married to Nancy Scott. Vincent was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the Portage Area Veterans Honor Guard. Vincent had worked as an elevator mechanic. He loved fishing, hunting and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Cynthia (Ted) Tenney, Vincent (Joanne) Leonforte, Carolyn (Joseph) Howard, and Lauren (Stefan Marchal) Leonforte; twenty-two grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Jeanette Helms; other near relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Leonforte, a sister, Lillian Leonforte, and a brother, Michael Leonforte.
A private family funeral service will be held, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Portage at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022. A reception will be at 2:00 p.m. following the burial at the VFW Post, 215 W. Collins St., Portage. Poynette Area Veterans Honor Guard will be performing military honors. A block of rooms has been held at Portage Best Western, 608-742-2200, to make reservations.
