Melissa J. “Missy” Heitke
PORTAGE -- Melissa J. “Missy” Heitke, age 37, died on Friday, September 17, 2021 at University Hospital in Madison, as a result of a car accident.
Melissa was born on January 16, 1984, in Portage, the daughter of James Heitke and Cindy (Rainey) Smith. She was a super mom, loved her kids and enjoyed taking them to all their sports practices and games. Missy loved frogs, Bath & Body Works, roses, scary movies and shopping. She was a very kind and loving person.
She is survived by her life partner, Dean Christman; her children, Adrian (Karly) Cavanaugh, Alexis Christman, Theodore Christman, Cerenitea Christman, and Persefany Christman; her granddaughter, Hazel; her father, James Heitke; her mother, Cindy (Brian) Smith; her brothers, Michael (Tina) Heitke and his daughters, Trinity, Myah, and Taelyn, Shanon (Lauren) Smith and their son, Blake, and Eric Smith. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ronald and Virginia Heitke, John Rainey, Mary and Sheldon Zimmerman.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage. A private family graveside service will be held in Douglas Cemetery.
