Allen M. Mantz

NEWPORT TOWNSHIP, WISCONSIN DELLS – Allen M. Mantz, age 79, of rural Wisconsin Dells, passed away at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Allen was born on February 28, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Ferdinand and Lorraine (Wessel) Mantz. He and Christine Herden were united in marriage at St. James Church in Lannon, WI. Allen worked and retired after 35 years as a carpenter at Dahlman Construction Company in Milwaukee.  After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, and raising chickens. He was quite a handy man, even making his own tools when he couldn’t find the right one for the job. He continued building projects for others, such as cabins for friends, and decks at a local campground.  He built his own chicken coop and continued other home renovations.  He owned and operated a tree business, Evergreens Unlimited, and a cabinetry business, Accurate Millwork. Chris and Allen loved traveling with friends, finding beautiful scenic waterfalls.  They loved traveling in their own RV to flea markets to sell antiques.  Family meant so much to Allen.  He was heartbroken during COVID because he couldn’t be with all of the ones he loved.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Christine Mantz of Wisconsin Dells; children, Karen (Joel) Radtke of Neosho, Craig (Karen) Mantz of Westfield, Audra Mantz of Sussex, Derek (Cheri) Mantz of Delafield, Jared (Katie) Mantz of Hales Corners; brother, Ralph (Virginia) Mantz of Smith Valley, NV; 8 grandchildren, Lauren, Gretchen, Dustin, Ryan, Sr., Cody, Riley, Charlotte and Porter; 6 great-grandchildren, Aydan, Emily, Tommy, Ryan, Jr., Emmit, Luke and 2 more on the way.  He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
