Thelma L. Voigtlander

BARABOO – Thelma L. Voigtlander, age 88, passed away at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo on Monday, August 24, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Thelma was born on April 12, 1932, in Ashland, Mississippi, the daughter of Joseph and Effie (Wilkerson) Houston. She married Carl Voigtlander on July 3, 1950 in Hernando, Mississippi.  They moved to Packwaukee in 1967.  He preceded her in death on January 21, 2013.  She had worked in public health for Columbia County. Thelma enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, gardening and shopping.  She loved to sew, and could sew anything.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Tammy) Voigtlander, Baraboo, James (Helen) Voigtlander, Baraboo, Debbie (William Drew Johnson) Brackett, West Virginia;  and Carl (Sheila) Voigtlander, Berlin, WI; 13 grandchildren;  16 great-grandchildren;  her brother, James Houston;  her sister, Syble Taylor;  one of her best friends, Debbie Kaminski;  other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Voigtlander, her son, Chris, four brothers and four sisters.  

Inurnment will be private in Underhill Cemetery, Packwaukee.  Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
