John R. Deakins

John R. Deakins passed away on December 22, 2020, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 74.  John was born on September 1, 1946, and grew up in Muscoda, Wisconsin. He graduated from Muscoda High School in 1964.  John served as a helicopter pilot during the Viet Nam War where he achieved the rank of Captain in the US Army. After his military service, he served as a field service engineer in the aviation industry while living and working in many countries around the world. He lived in Phoenix for many years since his retirement.

John is survived by his son, Mark (Laurie) and two grandchildren, Lisa Deakins and Nathan (Nicole) Deakins. Also surviving are his sisters, Patricia (Fred) Goplin and Susan (Tom) Porter and his brother Mike (Amy) McGargle. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Deakins Steinhaus, his parents, Dr. Paul and Mary Anne McGargle, and two brothers, Paul and Peter McGargle.
Private family funeral services will be held at a later date.
