Sandra A. Stanley

PORTAGE – Sandra A. Stanley, age 61, passed away peacefully at her home in Portage, surrounded by loving family, on Thursday, July 6, 2017.

Sandy was born on May 10, 1956, in Baraboo, the daughter of Phillip and Shirley (Walker) Wedekind. She graduated in 1974 from Baraboo High School. On August 26, 1978, she married Daniel Stanley at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage. Sandy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She worked as a teacher’s aide for the Portage Community Schools and a president of WEAC. Sandy was very involved in her sons’ sports activities.

She is survived by her parents, Phil and Shirley of Baraboo; husband, Dan of Portage; sons, Christopher (Stacey) Stanley, Matthew Stanley, Kyle Stanley; grandchildren, Deacon, Charlie, Elena and Rhys; brothers and sisters, Tim Wedekind, Tom Wedekind, Jim (Lisa) Wedekind, Janet (John) Walrath, all of Baraboo; mother-in-law, Phyllis Stanley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chucky and Barb Stanley of Portage; nieces and nephews, Shane and Ryan Wedekind, Briana and Audrey Wedekind, Brandon Walrath and Kelley Bressers. She is further survived by many other near relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Charles C. Stanley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Private inurnment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Monday, July 10, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center, 600 Highland Ave K4/658, Madison, WI 53792 or Turville Bay MRI and Radiation Oncology Center, 1104 John Nolen Drive, Madison, WI 53713.
