Arthur E. Schkirkie

PORTAGE – Arthur E. Schkirkie, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 15, 2017, at his home in Portage, Wisconsin.

Arthur was born on November 20, 1953, in Portage, Wisconsin, the son of Otto and Coralene (Pieper) Schkirkie. Since the 1980s, he worked as a small engine repairman at Rhodes. Arthur was a motorcycle enthusiast and especially enjoyed his “bike.” He also liked corvettes. At the age of 16, his parents gifted him a white 1961 corvette. He had many since then, but still owned the first one and was currently restoring it.

He is survived by his mother, Coralene Wiese of Portage; children, Jim (Lisa) Hewitt of Portage, Stephanie (Troy) Vils of Spring Green, Jami Hayes of Baraboo, Jennifer Schkirkie of Portage; siblings, Wanda (Bob) Johnson of Evansville, Annette (Jerry) Franke of Baraboo, Floyd Schkirkie of Portage, Lilac (Les) Sundsmo of Ohio; grandchildren, Hayley, Logan, Damian, Brandan, Cierra, Decker, Heaven, Marion; great-granddaughter, Mylah; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Schkirkie; and his dog, Duke. 

Sharing of Memories will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home (www.pmmfh.com) in Portage, Wisconsin, on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, May 20, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbia County Humane Society.
