Kathryn “Kay” Kindschi Mountford

POYNETTE/TOWN OF LEEDS – Kathryn “Kay” Kindschi Mountford, age 80, of Poynette, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 4, 2017.

Kay was born on March 8, 1937, the daughter of Ralph and Celia (Mather) Kindschi. She graduated from DeForest High School. Kay married Harold William “Bill” Mountford on September 27, 1958.

Kay enjoyed going out to coffee with friends and her games in the newspaper. She enjoyed any type of sports and especially watching her children’s and grandchildren’s events. She was a member of the Columbia County Homemakers, Poynette Inch United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher as well as a choir member, and a member of the Arlington Curling Club. She enjoyed playing softball and hit multiple home runs in one game. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of pinochle and euchre card clubs. Her greatest joy was her family and being on the Mountford family farm in Lowville Township.

She is survived by her children, Lori Mountford of Madison, Nancy (Jeff) Schuchardt of Windsor, Roger Mountford of Poynette and Gail Mountford (Joe Durow) of Sun Prairie; her grandchildren, Samantha and Lydia Schuchardt and Jacob and Kyle Mountford; her sisters-in-law, Madeline Kindschi of Markesan; Joan (Webster) Carter of Middleton; brother-in-law, Robert (Donna) Mountford of Poynette; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mountford; parents, Ralph and Celia (Mather) Kindschi; father- and mother-in-law, Wayne and Berenice Mountford; brothers; sister-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Doris (Ralph) Steuber, Alberta (Lawrence) Meier, Robert Kindschi and Richard (Carmen) Kindschi; nephews, Doug Steuber and Ted Harris.

Mom taught us many life lessons. She had struggles this past year but she always kept her spirits up. She said that she wasn’t in very good shape but she had a great time getting there! We will miss the twinkle in her eye, her smile, and her spunk.

Funeral services will be held at The Barn at Harvest Moon Pond, N3540 WI-22, Poynette, on Friday, December 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Sharon Smith officiating. Burial will be follow at Hillside Cemetery. Visitations will be at The Barn on Harvest Moon Pond on Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Columbia Health Care Center and Divine Savior Home Health staff as well as the Arlington and Pardeeville Ambulance staff for the great care they provided.
