Mary Martinez

PORTAGE – Mary Martinez, age 69, of Portage, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on January 26, 1948, in Iona, Michigan, the daughter of Pablo and Raquel (Torrez) Ramirez, Sr.  Her family moved to Pardeeville when she was 6 years old.  Mary attended Marcellon and Pardeeville schools.  She had worked for Ray-O-Vac for 33 years.  Mary enjoyed going to the races at the Dells Motor Speedway, Madison International Speedway, and some NASCAR races.  Her family was her number 1 love.                           

She is survived by her children, Edward (Cheli) Martinez, Sun Prairie and Rachel (Jeff) Garetson, Portage;  granddaughters, Trista Traut and Hanna Garetson, both of Portage;  her sisters, Juanita (Gabriel) Huichan, Madison, Felicite Aguilar, Madison, Diane (Roger) Williams, Michigan, Lydia Harvestine, Portage, and Viola Atkinson, Michigan;  her brother, Tony (Christina) Ramirez, Portage;  special friends, Judy and Chuck Kienast, and Scott and Linda Kuhlman;  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Jack Fuller, her son, Rubin Martinez, Jr., and her brothers, Pablo and Joseph Ramirez.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
