Doris E. Hamele

PORTAGE – Doris E. Hamele, age 91, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Heritage House in Portage, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born on October 6, 1925, in Boscobel, the daughter of Wilbert and Lois (Krahn) Seeley. She graduated from Wauzeka High School. She married John “Jack” Hamele in 1988. Doris worked as a dietary supervisor for many years at the Methodist Hospital. She made over 150 beautiful quilts, most of which she donated to TRIAD in Portage and The Orphan Grain Train. She spent many enjoyable hours fishing, playing cards, and painting scenic pictures.

Doris is survived by her children, Lynn Olson, Larry Olson, Lynette (Norm) Barnard and Kathy (Mike) Neuhengen; sister, Peggy Rice; brother, Wilbert Seeley, Jr.; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kensel Olson; husband Jack Hamele; brothers, Richard Seeley and John Seeley.

Doris requested to be cremated. A private Celebration of Life will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage. Inurnment will be private.
