Ruth L. Ramsay Evans PORTAGE – Ruth L. Ramsay Evans, age 94, of Portage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Ruth was born on October 4, 1922, in Portage, the daughter of Ernest and Magdalene (Lohr) Dickow. She graduated from Portage High School. Ruth married Ronald Ramsay in 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1986. She was active in the Caledonia Community, Homemakers, 4-H, bridge clubs, and Caledonia Presbyterian Church, where she had served as an elder. In 1987, Ruth married Clarence “Clem” Evans, and moved in to Portage. She continued to be active with her church and Portage organizations, including the Portage Historical Society. Clem preceded her in death in 2011. She is survived by her children, Renee Ramsay (James Reynolds), Franklin, NC and James (Diane) Ramsay, Merrimac; her grandchildren, Jason (Cassie) Ramsay, Eagan, MN and Erin (John) Scherbert, Merrimac; her great-grandsons, Thomas Ramsay and Cole Scherbert; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her folks, one son, Thomas J. Ramsay, her husbands, Ronald Ramsay and Clarence Evans, her sister, Magdalene Swisher, and her brother, Jack Dickow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caledonia Presbyterian Church, Portage Historical Society, and Portage Public Library.
