Fred I. "Sunny" Cox

SOUTH BELOIT, ILLINOIS – Fred I. “Sunny” Cox, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at his home in South Beloit.

Fred was born on May 22, 1951, in Columbus, the son of Fred and Catherine “Helen” (Griffin) Cox.  He married Janet Mattox in Belvidere, Illinois on March 8, 2012.  Fred worked as an electrician most of his life.  He enjoyed fishing and meeting with his breakfast group.  He loved eating apple fritters.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Cox, of South Beloit, IL; his children, Tracie (Zack) Davis, of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Kurt (Anitra) Cox, of Victor, ID, and Kyle (Andrea Rosmann) Cox of Chicago; his siblings, Christine (Joe) Buckner, of Rockton, IL, Jean Cox, of Fort Atkinson, and James (Mary Jill) Cox, of Belvidere, IL; his grandchildren, Dylan, Catherine, Ryne, Kody, Kalyb, Ayanna, and Sara (Cory); other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Cox.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Help of Christians in Briggsville on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Briggsville. Visitation will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Monday, January 29, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday, January 30, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
