George W. Smith

PORTAGE/ENDEAVOR—George W. Smith, age 59, of Endeavor, died on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Tivoli in Portage.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Endeavor with the Rev. Susan Oeffler officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Endeavor.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and also at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

George was born in Portage, Wisconsin on April 5, 1957, the son of George H. and Evelyn H. (Applebee) Smith.  He had worked at Europlast in Endeavor for 25+ years.  He was a member of the Packwaukee Historical Society, and was an avid collector of hunting memorabilia. George enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing.

Survivors include his sister, Ellen Smith of Endeavor; nephew Anthony Smith, Endeavor; nieces, Rebecca Timme, Endeavor, and children Nicholas, Sawyer, and Boden; Kelly (Joe) Borish, Portage, and children Sterling (Hannah) and Rebekka Borish; Heather Bortz, Endeavor, and son Aaden Bortz; other relatives and many special friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sandra Millard, his brother-in-law Larry Millard, and a brother, Bud, in infancy.

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice and Tivoli and staff for their excellent care of George. Special thanks to Nikki LaSure for giving George peace and comfort through the special connection you two had.
