Virginia A. Sereg

BARABOO – Virginia A. Sereg, age 94, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo. Virginia, or “Jean” as family called her, loved babies, her flowers in the Spring, cooking, embroidering, and being a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.

Virginia was born on July 12, 1922, in Streator, Illinois, the daughter of John and Kathrine (Popovich) Majercin. She married Paul Sereg on August 31, 1944, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Streator, IL.

She is survived by her sons, Eugene (Cheryl) Sereg of Port St. Lucie, FL, Richard (Patricia) Sereg of Merrimac, Paul Sereg of Elcentro, CA; daughters, Victoria (Armando) Marin of Arizona, Mary (Brian) Burns of North Freedom; grandchildren, Richard (Jennifer) Sereg, Jr., Kristina (John) Stanton, Karolyn (Carl) Beatty, Amber Marin, Melissa (John) Pohlmann, Stevie Sereg, Breana Marin, Joshua (Taylor) Brown, Xochitl Marin; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Adam Stanton, Ericka and Emily Sereg, Sarah and Carl E. Beatty, Coltyn and Jakob Pohlmann, Brayden Brown, other relatives and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Portage with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
