David Dean Nehls

DEKORRA TOWNSHIP/POYNETTE -- David Dean Nehls, July 5, 1957, to August 24, 2016.

David, age 59, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on August 24, 2016. He was born on July 5, 1957, in Poynette to Kenneth O. and Deloris E. (Haupt) Nehls. In 1968, he fell in love with his future wife and in 1978, he married Gerianne M. Raab. In their 38 years of marriage, the pair raised 4 children and 6 grandchildren while living in Poynette for 31 of those years. During David’s 59 years, he touched the lives of those around him as an all-conference high school athlete, an avid outdoorsman, Poynette youth coach for multiple sports including a national championship in youth boys’ softball, mission trips to Guatemala and Colorado, and volunteering for the Catholic Church. David dedicated 37 years of state employment and service at the UW Wisconsin-Madison research labs where he worked in medical research. His strength, courage, faith and care of all of God’s creations served as an example to those who look up to him as role-model and hero.

Those left to carry on the faith are Jennifer Nehls and Eric Boyd with Sophia and Maxwell; Josh and Amy (Karman) Nehls with Clayton, Jocelynn, and Jack; Dan Nehls; Zara Nehls and John Petty with Rowan; brother Wayne (Sharon) Nehls; sister Ruth (Larry) Amacher; the Raab siblings and many other family members and friends.

We are thankful that David is with our Savior Jesus, but he will be missed greatly. In memory of David, plant a tree, build a bird house, or make a connection in the outdoors.
