Arlene M. Joyce

PORTAGE  --  Arlene M. Joyce, age 92, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016, at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, following surgery for a broken hip.

She was born on May 29, 1923, in Coloma, WI, to George Nelson and Ida Otilda (Frank) Hawkins. Arlene married Russell Joyce on June 7, 1945, at St. Mary Rectory in Portage. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1993.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean (Dennis) O’Keefe and June (Jerry) Gocke; five grandchildren, David (Catie) O’Keefe of  Columbus, Kimberly O’Keefe of Portage, Russell (Lisa) O’Keefe of Milwaukee, Jana Gocke and Jessica (Matthew) Asch, both of Portage; nine great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Molly, Emily, Keagan, Conley, Quin and Cullen O’Keefe, Madalyn and Brayden Asch; two sisters-in-law, Judy Gray and Mary (Harley) Shrank; one brother-in-law, Mike (Kay) Joyce; two nieces, Audrey Dettman and Julie Schlender; other relatives and many friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents; two sisters, Genevieve (Harold) Huyck and Cora (Carl) Manteufel; and one brother, George Hawkins.

Services will be at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at  11:00 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Briggsville. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
