Delores H. “Dottie” Haupt

POYNETTE  --  Delores H. “Dottie” Haupt, age 90, died on June 14 , 2016, at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage. 

Dottie was born on January 16, 1926, to Otto and Leona (Gest) Lanzendorf, in the Town of Leeds, where she grew up. Upon graduation from Poynette High School in 1943, she attended Columbia Teachers College (County Normal) and later became a teacher at Sharpee School, a one room school in the Town of Hampden.  She married Elmer Haupt on August 18, 1949 and they farmed together in the Township of Dekorra for 50 years.  He preceded her in death on September 3, 2004.  Dottie was also a substitute teacher and later became a Food Service Director for the Poynette School District.  She served her community on the Poynette Library Board and in numerous roles and committees at church.  She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  Dottie showed her love for family and friends through cooking and baking.   

She is survived by her daughters, Arlene Haupt, of Madison, and Ardyce (Dean) Haupt Piehl, of Poynette; her grandchildren, Emily Piehl, of Sun Prairie, and Drew Piehl of Poynette; her sisters, Leola Hermanson, of Portage, Mildred Bleich, of Waupun, and Ruth Thompson, of Poynette; her sister-in-law, Deloris Nehls, of Poynette; her good friend, Helen Bowen, several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer, infant twin daughters, her brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert and Helen Lanzendorf, her brothers-in-law, Irvin Hermanson, Ralph Bleich, Robert Thompson, and Ken Nehls, her nephew, Brian Bleich and her niece, Sally Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, W8267 Hwy 33E, Portage, with Rev. Julie Krahn officiating.  Burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery, in Poynette.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at the church.
