Matthew Lee Fosnot

Endeavor  --  Matthew Lee Fosnot, age 34, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, in Douglas Township.

Matt was born on August 24, 1981, at Meriter Hospital in Madison, the son of Richard and Karla (Schutz) Fosnot. He served his country as an Army Calvary Scout in the Second Persian Gulf Iraq War, and had weapons and tactical training, as well as great respect and knowledge of fire arms. Matt graduated from Mid-State Tech as a hydraulic maintenance machinist. He was employed at Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids, having spent most of his time between Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point. Matt had a great love for his family and the family farm. Matt was an outdoorsman and especially enjoyed exploring, climbing, hiking, camping, cutting wood, and playing euchre.

He is survived by his parents; his siblings, Lisa Nieto of Texas, Rachael Fosnot of Madison, Jason (Connie Clemens) Stroemer of Poynette and Rebecca (Jeffrey) Parker of Colorado; his aunts and uncles, Donald and Janet Fosnot of Brownsburg, IN, and Rick and Kim Schutz of Endeavor; his cousins, Lindsay Schutz, Michael Schutz, Tim (Kris) Fosnot, and Ken (Lisa) Fosnot; his niece, Nichole Robinson; his nephews, Shawn Stroemer and Emil Petersen, Jr.; his great-nephew, Christian Murry; his great nieces, Makayla Schmidt, Lillian Stroemer, Anastasia Petersen, Khloee Pope and Kinsley Fosnot; and special friend, April Selenka and her daughter, Ryan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harlan and Joyce Schutz and James and Dorothy Fosnot; and his nephews, James Pope and Aiden Robinson.

Memorial services will be held at CrossPoint Assembly of God Church on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Randy Mantik officiating.  Military honors by Portage Area Veteran’s Honor Guard will be held at the church following the service. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Briggsville Protestant Cemetery in the Township of Douglas. Visitation will be on Friday at CrossPoint Assembly of God from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in honor of Matthew.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
