Dr. E. Eliot Elliott

PORTAGE  --  Dr. E. Eliot Elliott, age 91, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his home in Portage, surrounded by his loving family. 

Eliot was born on February 7, 1925, in Canton, Indiana, the son of Rev. Oliver and Mabel (Lunsford) Elliott. He graduated from the Illinois School of Optometry and practiced optometry in Janesville and Portage. He served his country as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and continued his love of flying. He married Jeanette (Wruck) Kiefer on June 4, 1983, in Portage. He was a member of Rotary International, Toastmasters, the Jaycees, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage, Wisconsin Optometric Association, and a charter member of the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Lana Elliott, Lance (Serena) Elliott, Robin Elliott Anderson, Rev. Yvonne (Steve) Marshall, Wayne (Trina) Kiefer and Steve (Lisa) Kiefer; grandchildren, Melissa Marshall, Zachary Kiefer and Sarah Kiefer. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Ashley Kiefer in 2001, and his brother, Paul, and sister-in-law, Bea.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, W8267 Hwy. 33 East, Portage. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 with Rev. Julie Krahn presiding. Inurnment will be private at Pacific Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage or the charity of your choice.

The family extends a special thank you to St. Croix Hospice (formerly St. Jude’s Hospice) for their excellent care, especially Scott.
