Dorothy E. Coon

BIG SPRING  --  Dorothy E. Coon, age 88, of Big Spring, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy Coon was born on January 12, 1928 in Adams County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Francis and Nellie (Hayes) Gaffney.  She was married to Francis Coon at St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville on August 21, 1948.  Together they farmed in New Haven Township. Dorothy also had taught school for several years.  Francis preceded her in death on April 26, 2003.  Dorothy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville.

She is survived by her daughters, Gloria (Gary) Stroede, of Wisconsin Dells, and Yvonne Huber of San Diego, California; her daughters-in-law, Kathy Coon, of Oxford and Cheryl Coon, of Wisconsin Dells; her sister, Katherine Evans, of Oxford; her grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Coon, Jeff (Lorie) Coon, Joey (Melissa) Coon, Jennifer (Mickey) Amparan, Jason Stroede, Trisha (Philipp) Dieckmann, Robert (Jessica) Stroede, Brenda (Tom) Klapoetke, Kim (Jason) Musiedlak, Reggie Huber, Lori (Terry) Bores, and Benjamin (Shelby) Huber;  her great-grandchildren, Abby and Kate Coon, Lexi Tessner, Damian, Nicholas, Matthew, Alex, and Kali Amparan, Makayla Lichman, Mandy and Josh Cavanaugh, Felix Dieckmann, Jackson Singleton, Maya and Jana Musiedlak, Traven and Micaela Huber, Trina, Lindsey and Jacob Bores, and Jacey and Thomas Huber, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Francis, her sons, Tommy, Joseph and Patrick Coon, her brother, Harold Gaffney, her sisters, Helene Bloss, Anna Zentner, and Margaret DeGarmo, her grandson, Tommie Huber, and her great-granddaughter, Kristine Cavanaugh.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Briggsville.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the church.   The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
