Connie R. (Schwantz) Chapman

ENDEAVOR – Connie R. (Schwantz) Chapman, age 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at her home in Endeavor, surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born on April 29, 1952 in Portage, the daughter of Edwin and Vera (Whitney) Schwantz.  She was married on July 1, 1972 to Walter Chapman, who preceded her in death in 2001.  Connie had worked as a hair stylist for over 45 years at the same salon.  She loved her job at Salon 51 (formerly Spurgeon’s) and all her co-workers.  She loved fishing and attending festivals. Connie never missed a birthday or anniversary; everyone always received their card on the correct day.  She was always helping others.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Rebecca) Chapman, Gilbert, Arizona;  her daughters;  Tammy Chapman, Portage, and Wendy (Matthew) Dittman, Brookfield;  her grandchildren, Jessica Wenzel, Tempe, Arizona, Faith Chapman, Gilbert, Arizona, Kylie, Kaden and Kegan Chapman, Portage;  her sister, Judy (Gary) Van Wormer, Baraboo;  her aunt, Elaine “Toodie” Hatz, Portage;  her brothers-in-law, Jim (Diane) Chapman, Joe (Denise) Chapman, John (Sang) Chapman, and Don (Vicki) Chapman, all of Endeavor;  her special friend, Steve Porter, Poynette;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter, and her in-laws, Donna and Rex Chapman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with the Rev. Greg Hovland officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Endeavor.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Thursday, September 15, 2016, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Froedert, and everyone at Agrace for their wonderful care of our mother, grandmother, and sibling.
