Mildred I. Wilcox

WYOCENA  --  Mildred I. Wilcox, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena, after moving there on December 12, 2014, following a stroke.   

Mildred was born on September 25, 1920 in Moundville Township, the daughter of Elmer and Elsie (Rood) Scholes.  She was married to Merlin B. Wilcox on April 3, 1942, they farmed together for many years on the family farm while raising three children; two sons and a daughter.  Mildred also worked in Portage at the A&W Root Beer stand, and AMPI.  

Mildred is survived by her children, Kenneth (Gayle Ann) Wilcox, of Eagle River, Richard Wilcox, and Kay Krueger, both of Portage; her grandchildren, Mark (Sarah) Wilcox, ,and Jane (Erik) Lindberg; her great-grandsons, Bo Thomas Wilcox and Erikson Gray Lindberg; her brother, Lester (Janet) Scholes; her sisters, Romona Raught, Barbara Cummings, and Helen Gray, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Merlin on February 19, 1981, her son-in-law, Robert Krueger on September 8, 1994, her sisters, Margie Gray and Dorothy Murry, her brothers-in-law, Bill Murry, Bob Cummings, Jerry Raught, John Gray and Art Gray.

At Mildred’s request, a private family funeral will be held at North Marcellon Cemetery. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
