Charles F. "Grandpa Goofy" Sutfin

PORTAGE  --  Charles F.  “Grandpa Goofy” Sutfin, age 73, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Charles was born on September 28, 1941, in Portage, the son of Winfield and Leota (Kleist) Sutfin.  He served his country in the United States Navy.  Charles enjoyed laughing, fishing, riding his scooter, and he loved spending time with his family.  

He is survived by his friend and former wife, Brigid “Dee” Sutfin; his children, Donna (Steven) Johnson, of Pardeeville, Linda (Brian) Dorow, of Wisconsin Dells, and Shannon (Jeff) Gray, of Portage; his grandchildren, Whitney Sutfin, Eric Johnson, Ashlee Platt, Ali Platt, Megan Dorow, Jakop Gray, Jocelynn Gray, Jeorgia Gray, and Jessika Gray; his great-grandson, Simón Guardado, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gordon Sutfin and Harold Sutfin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Burial, with military honors by the Portage Area Veteran’s Honor Guard, will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
