Eileen M. Salzman

PORTAGE  --  Eileen M Salzman, age 91, died on Sunday, February, 22, 2015 at Our House in Portage.

Eileen was born on April 7, 1923 in Fort Winnebago Township, the daughter of George and Mary (McQuade) McMahon.  Eileen married Elwyn Salzman on March 7, 1942.  She had worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory until the time it closed, and also at the Wisconsin Cheeseman.  Eileen also helped her husband, Elwyn with his gravel and limestone trucking business.  Eileen was a life-time resident of Portage and was known for her kindness to everyone.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Portage. 

Eileen is survived by her nephews, Robert (Genny) McMahon, of Beaver Dam, and Leo (Sharon) McMahon, of Madison; her brother-in-law, Donald Salzman, of Portage, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary, her husband, Elwyn, her sister, Helen Schroeder, and her brother, Eugene McMahon.   

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home is Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
