Theodore A. “Ted” Nauman

PORTAGE/BRIGGSVILLE - Theodore (Ted) Arthur Nauman’s (93) final earthly wish was realized on February 3, 2015 where his faith sustained him in that the Lord was taking him “Home”.

Ted was assured of his faith and inheritance to be in God’s presence for eternity.  He lived well, treasured friends and acquaintances, enjoyed sharing a meal and was a real outdoorsman with hunting, fishing and being in nature. In his final years he chose to be a resident at Tivioli where he had many friends and treasured the staff that provided excellent care and friendship for him.  He passed peacefully at Tivioli.

Ted was the son of George Albert Nauman and Majel Ruth (Houghtaling) Nauman and was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on February 21, 1921.  His family later moved to Gordon, Wisconsin, where as a young adult he worked for the Civilian Construction Core.  He served in the war and was stationed in the Philippines.  Following the war, he married Ruth Jancowski.  Unfortunately, the marriage was short lived as she died of cancer in 1966.  Ted worked in the Forestry Department for his career.  He met his second wife Lorraine in Gordon and shortly after moved to Florida for a short time.  He then moved to Briggsville in the early 70’s where he lived until 2 years ago when he elected to reside at Tivoli in Portage

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Maida Borchert, Faye Hardt and Violet Stensland.  Violet also lived with Ted in Briggsville late in life and was a treasured friend and aide.  He is survived by two sisters Ruth Allen and Elizabeth Mattson.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Tivoli Chapel in Portage, with Pastor Julie Wilson officiating.  A visitation will take place at 10:00 AM preceding the service.  Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Briggsville Protestant Cemetery.  Following the service there will be a luncheon at the American Legion in Briggsville where he was a member.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting.
