John J. Mulryan

WYOCENA  --  John J. Mulryan, age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena. 

John was born on September 24, 1923 in Portage, the son of James and Anna (Lindsay) Mulryan.  He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy, serving in the SeaBee’s.  John married Hazel Jensen on May 8, 1954.  He was a proud 60 year member of Local #802 Painters Union, Madison.  John was also a member of the Pardeeville VFW, and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage.  He enjoyed deer hunting and helping others.    

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Mulryan, of Portage; his children, Tom (Sally Hermsmeier) Mulryan, of Illinois, Ron (Janine) Jensen, of Oxford, Sharon Long, of Richland Center, Ken (Dawn) Mulryan, of Kingston, and Steve (Sari) Mulryan, of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the special group of friends that John deer hunted with, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, William and James, and his granddaughters, Angela Mulryan and Kristina Mulryan.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, with military honors by Portage Area Veterans Honor Guard.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Columbia Health Care Center for their excellent care of John.
